Infrastructure Officer to I 21, Östersund

The Garrison Support Unit (GarnsE) currently consists of approximately 50 employees who work with long-term planning and development of the unit's activities in peace, crisis, and war. We are responsible for production planning, war planning, as well as environmental and infrastructure issues.

The unit is under development, and new regiment areas are being projected both in Sollefteå and Östersund. We anticipate that the planned growth and development of the Armed Forces in the coming years will provide us all with several new exciting challenges and opportunities.

We are now looking for an Infrastructure Officer to Östersund. If you want to be part of our development journey and put your own stamp on the role of infrastructure officer, then you are the right person for us.

Main Responsibilities

You will be responsible for tasks related to infrastructure. This includes planning, implementation, follow-up, evaluation, and coordination of I 21's land area, facility, local, and construction activities in collaboration with the Local Planning Unit.

As an infrastructure officer, you will participate in the development work at I 21's establishment, including the construction of two new barracks areas. Your tasks also include preparing and compiling I 21's overall infrastructural needs and continuously following up on current matters through dialogue with I 21 Staff, Training Battalions, Västernorrland Group, Jämtland Group, Local Planning Unit, and in some cases, the Fortifications Agency (FortV).

Qualifications

Requirements

  • University degree in urban planning, real estate, and/or infrastructure, or several years of relevant work experience that the employer deems equivalent
  • Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Driver's license at least category B (Manual)

Meritorious

  • Experience of working within or in connection with the Armed Forces
  • Experience in development work and project management
  • Experience from working in an organization that places high demands on your security and confidentiality awareness
  • Several years of experience working in a dynamic organization during growth/development
  • Familiarity with property law and environmental legislation

You are good at organizing and prioritizing. You share your knowledge, experiences, and information. The position is characterized by a high degree of personal responsibility, where you are expected to be unpretentious and self-driven.   • Working hours: Mostly scheduled during daytime weekdays, but scheduled work during other times may occur

  • The Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those not employed by the authority

  • The position may involve business trips and training at other locations, and participation in exercises may result in absence and work being conducted outside regular working hours

Security clearance with background check will be conducted prior to employment according to the Security Protection Act. The position includes military placement at the unit.

In 2022, the Västernorrland Regiment was re-established with the Jämtland Field Ranger Corps, I 21. A new regiment with centuries-old traditions in Västernorrland and Jämtland. With us, you have the opportunity to be part of something unique, the re-establishment of a regiment in Lower Norrland.

I 21 currently has operations in Sollefteå, Östersund, and Härnösand and is responsible for the Garrison Lower Norrland. In Sollefteå, there is the Regiment Staff (with personnel in both Sollefteå and Östersund) and the Ångermanland Infantry Battalion. In Östersund, there is the Jämtland Field Ranger Corps. Additionally, there is a Garrison Support Unit, Defense Health, and Logistics Unit with operations in Sollefteå, Östersund, and Härnösand.

At the Ångermanland Infantry Battalion and Jämtland Field Ranger Corps, we train conscript soldiers for service in the new modern infantry under our proud motto “From mountains to sea, for the defense of Lower Norrland.”
